The Colonial Early Education Program (CEEP) is comprised of preschool aged children with and without identified disabilities, and is housed at John G. Leach School. All preschool classes are taught by Delaware state certified early childhood educators, and all classrooms have at least one paraeducator. All classrooms have state certified speech/language pathologists, occupational therapists, and/or physical therapists who work in the preschool classrooms. CEEP classrooms implement a developmentally appropriate educational curriculum which focuses on language, social, cognitive, fine motor, and large motor growth. Our educators also focus on the Delaware Department of Education’s Early Learning Foundations for School Success when planning and teaching lessons.
For the 2015-2016 school year we will offer full day programming (8:27 AM-3:19 PM) as well as half day programming (8:27-11:00 for AM & 12:30-3:19 for PM).
Before care will be held from 7:30-8:27, and after care will be held from 3:19-5:00. Before and after care fees are included in your child’s tuition, and will only be available for children attending the full day program. Lunch will be served for full day children, and all children in the program will receive snacks. Lunch and snacks are included in the tuition.
Children in the CEEP program that have been identified as having special needs attend the program for free and transportation is available. Typically developing peers, called “Typical Peers,” pay tuition, and there is no transportation provided for Typical Peers. All interested families must submit a Typical Peer Application and a Request for Permission to Screen to Dawn Alexander at the Colwyck Center of via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you would like more information on the Typical Peer Program, contact Dawn Alexander at 429-4096.
In addition to onsite services and the Peer Program, the District also provides itinerant services. These are services provided to those children who are eligible and already attend a daycare or preschool placement within the District. This includes the New Castle County Head Start locations (Lambson Lane, Rose Hill, and Manor Park Head Start).
Colonial School District offers a variety of options in serving 3- and 4-year-old children.
